Developing

Change cannot be restricted to an individual level. Once we empower people to let God’s love and grace transform their lives and circumstances, they will join with other disciples in healthy community (churches, no matter what form they might take). We must train them to expand their focus outward into their broader communities. God’s love is demonstrated--His church is effective--when communities are developed and holistic ministry is transforming lives. This includes meeting powerful, basic needs for clean water, sustainable food sources, contributing employment, and healthcare resources. In all these avenues of meeting the needs of an entire community Christ’s words and message can be shared, and lives can be changed through relationships that prove to have the best interests of people at heart. We make strong, committed, reproducing disciples when we come alongside them in the process of developing their own communities.

Empowering

We see in Scripture that an obedient heart in line with Christ’s cares for the world’s widows and orphans, for the poor and the oppressed. We believe that material poverty is ultimately the result of broken relationships. We believe that empowering the oppressed is about much more than providing more physical resources--more imported, condescending solutions, that don’t address real problems. Relational reconciliation is the mission of Christ and therefore our mission. We believe if we are going to meet them where they are with the love of Christ, we must come alongside them, in their circumstances, walk with them in their poverty, and empower them to bring change to their own lives. We can’t make disciples of Jesus by fixing people’s problems for them. We make disciples by empowering the oppressed.

Evangelizing

We believe God’s heart is burdened for those who remain unreached. ACM International shares this burden for those lost and living without the hope that comes from a vibrant and active relationship with God reconciled through Jesus Christ. We see this process of reaching out as being achieved primarily through relationships—interactions overflowing with God’s grace, love, and bold truths. This is the main avenue through which God calls us to make disciples, by evangelizing the unreached.

Strategies

There is really only one strategy that is 100% effective 100% of the time and that is to rely on a minute-by-minute basis for the leading of the Holy Spirit and the guidance of God’s Word. We are following a calling of God, placing all of our trust—every aspect of our lives—into His hands, always focused on a common goal. We live, breathe and perspire for the mission of making disciples. This is our true passion. How creative God is, as He reveals specific strategies through which we can accomplish this mission.
